More: Jaime Babbitt has sung for millions of people, though not all at once. She started singing professionally at 15, performed at bars, clubs, corporate events, parties and weddings, fronted her own band and toured with the incomparable Leon Russell as his backup singer and percussionist. See her book: Working with Your Voice: The Career Guide to Becoming a Professional Singer www.workingwithyourvoice.com
As a session singer in New York City, Los Angeles and Nashville, her schizophrenic voice has been heard on hundreds of national and regional TV and radio jingles for products such as Dr. Pepper, Diet Coke, Coca-Cola, Chevrolet, Sears, Hanes, Folgers, Pillsbury, Ocean Spray, Claritin, Starburst, Pringles, and Denny’s, to name but a few. Also, she is proud to have earned the distinction of being a mole for the “Whac-A-Mole” board game.
Jaime has sung both live and digitally with George Strait, Courtney Love, Barbra Streisand, Leon Russell, Johnny Mathis, Jimmy Webb, Willie Nelson, Sam Moore, JD Souther, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Lamont Dozier, Michael McDonald, Jerry Lawson (of The Persuasions), Ashley MacIsaac, Phoebe Snow, Rosie O’Donnell and on projects for Disney (“Lightning McQueen’s Fast Tracks”, “Mater’s Car Tunes”, “Handy Manny”) … and for Curious George. She has also sung with many indie artists in the Nashville area, both live and in-studio.
Bitten by the theater bug several years ago, Jaime played guitar and performed various roles in the 1960s Greenwich Village folk-musical drama, “Search: Paul Clayton”, which premiered at the Vineyard Playhouse on Martha’s Vineyard June-July 2014 and off-Broadway at the Triad/Stage 72 in New York City, April-May 2015.
Jaime continues to lecture at various universities (Middle Tennessee State University, The Academy of Contemporary Music in Oklahoma City), at NAMM in both Los Angeles and Nashville, at Nashville’s Blackbird Academy and for NSAI’s master classes and Advanced Songcamp in both Nashville and New York. Her articles have been featured in Electronic Musician, Music Connection and VoiceCouncil Magazine. She studied voice for many years with Jackie Presti, Don Lawrence and Tania Travers and for the last 10 years has been a vocal, in-studio and stage performance teacher/coach both for Disney and privately in Nashville, New York and Los Angeles.
